My Journey to Zion House Canada

 

I am Funlola; an intentional lover of God, a devoted wife to Abi, a loving & committed mom to two awesome boys; a highly trained sustainable energy specialist fully vested in Canada's laudable efforts towards building a sustainable energy future for the good of all Canadians. I am graced to be the lead fruitiere, chocolatier & event stylist at La Framboise Company; where we offer a premium personalized service for chocolate confections, custom gifts & balloons in the Calgary area. Most recently; I am honoured to be the serving founder & the journey diplomat for Zion House Canada by His divine grace.

My childhood dream to become a diplomat informed my early life choices namely to learn French and travel the world with an overarching goal of assisting people and representing the interests of my country and the citizens abroad. Well; life happened and my strong desire to build a Christian home became stronger than the diplomatic corps pull so I settled for a highly rewarding career in the Nigerian oil & gas sector.

 

In 2007; my family decided to relocate first to London, England; then to Calgary, Alberta in 2010 as permanent residents.

The Canadian Government did all it could to give us a soft landing but nothing could have prepared us for the challenges of the last 10 years especially as it relates to raising a spirited child in the West.

 

Zion House Canada is borne out of my experiences of navigating life in a new place - the good, the bad, the joys and the pains, the highs and lows, the strategies that worked, the lessons learnt and the pitfalls to avoid.

​

It is my heartfelt desire that others will have better experiences in their journey between transitions in an unfamiliar place.

Zion House Canada seeks to be a safe & sturdy bridge as you cross to the life you've always dreamt of while avoiding unnecessary bumps and ditches along the way.

​

A few years ago; I began to get a strong pull again towards diplomacy & advocacy, but this time in an unusual way; to become a diplomat with every human interaction; sharing my experiences to bridge the gap and help others better integrate into a new life.

 

To this end; may I ask you to grab your "travel documents" - the totality of your uniqueness, your shield of faith and journey with me to a life of limitless potential.
